PRIVACY POLICY

We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Global Action International cares about protecting the privacy of our donors, supporters, and visitors to our Website, including information received online and offline. We will never sell your information with any other person or organization. We will not send you mailings on behalf of other organizations. We may share your information with trusted partners who help us get our message to you, as described in our Privacy Policy (“Policy”).

This Policy explains how we collect and process your personal information. By using our Online Services and/or providing us with your personal information, you consent to the practices described in this Policy. Our Online Services refer to Global Action International’s website (“Site”).

We reserve the right to change this Policy at any time by posting a revised policy on the Site with the date it was last updated. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to make sure that you understand its terms.

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect personal information when you voluntarily submit it to us. “Personal information” is information that specifically identifies an individual, including:

  • Your name, address, email address, telephone number, and other contact information.
  • Your credit card or other financial information, or another account number.

Personal information may also include demographic information, such as date of birth, gender, geographic area, and religious affiliation, when such information is linked to other personal information that identifies you. It does not include “aggregate” information, which is data we collect about the use of our Online Services or about a group of products, services, or users, from which personal identifying information has been removed.

How and Why Do We Collect Personal Information?

We may collect personal information in the following ways:

  • You register for the Site or sign up for our newsletter.
  • You make a donation.
  • You participate in interactive areas of Online Services.
  • You apply for an employment or volunteer opportunity. For more information, please see our Applicant and Candidate Privacy Policy here.
  • You request information or materials from our organization.

We collect personal information primarily to accept donations, complete our charitable projects, and provide you with information about our programs. We may also use the information:

  • To send you a welcoming email or other correspondence.
  • To recognize the generosity of donors who have not requested anonymity.
  • To respond to requests for information or merchandise.
  • To comply with federal and state tax regulations, to conduct audits, and to maintain accreditations relating to our charitable and faith-based missions.

When you visit our Site, some information is automatically collected through the use of request logging, such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address or operating system, the browser, the address of a referring website, and your activity on the Site. We use this information to analyze trends, improve our Online Services, diagnose problems with our servers, manage and track use of the Site, and gather aggregate demographic information.

Personal information provided online may be linked with other information, including personal information we receive from you offline through third parties. Examples of third parties include other charitable or faith-based organizations or businesses that provide us with services.

Cookies and How We Use Them

We may also automatically collect information through “cookies,” or small data files stored on a user’s hard drive at the request of a website to enable the site to recognize users who have previously visited them and to retain certain information, such as customer preferences and history. If you wish to block, erase, or be warned of cookies, please refer to your browser’s instructions. However, if your browser is set to not accept cookies or if you reject a cookie, you may not be able to use or access certain Site features or services.

In addition to cookies, we use single-pixel gifs, or web beacons, in our emails. Web beacons track behavior, such as who has opened an email and when, the IP address, the browser or email type, which links were clicked, and other similar information. This allows us to measure the performance of email campaigns and improve the quality of our emails.

Sharing Information with Third Parties

Global Action International will never sell your information to a third party.

However, we may offer features through third-party service providers, including HubSpot and FundraiseUp. For example, we may use third-party online hosting and payment processing services to facilitate our online donations, online store, and online employment applications. When you use these services, you are providing information directly to these service providers, and the provision of such information is subject to that party’s privacy policy. We are not responsible for any information you provide to these parties directly, and we encourage you to review their policies before disclosing information directly to them.

Our Online Services may contain links to other websites. Please be aware that although we may participate in or utilize such sites, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites.

To help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. For example, we utilize platforms with mandated encryption protocols to secure our user/company data. Additionally, all sensitive information is stored in secure cloud-based, encrypted repositories.

You should note that email is not secure, and you should not send any confidential or sensitive information to us via an unsecured email. To protect the confidentiality of your personal information, you must keep your password confidential and not disclose it to any other person. You are responsible for all uses of the Online Services by any person using your password. Please email us immediately at hope@globalaction.ngo if you believe your password has been misused.
